Hudson Youth Hockey Association great for kids interested in sports

Exercising, forming friendships and learning the sport of hockey are just a few of the things Hudson boys and girls are doing when they participate in the Hudson Youth Hockey Association.

The hockey association, which holds games and other events at the Hudson Sports and Civic Complex, provides children of all ages an active and fun time on the ice.

Kids interested in fine-tuning their skating and stick-handling skills can partake in a number of hockey leagues. Different leagues exist for a variety of skill levels, so all interested youth can join a team in the appropriate competitive level.

Additionally, children who want to learn more about playing the popular Wisconsin sport can take hockey lessons. Thanks to a number of local volunteers, the Hudson Youth Hockey Association has been an ongoing success among Hudson kids.

For kids who enjoy playing pick-up games of hockey, search for Hudson homes for sale near Burton Field, which has an outdoor hockey rink, open skating rink and warming house.

History abounds in Wisconsin museum

The Octagon House in Hudson, Wisconsin, is a unique eight-sided home open to Hudson residents and visitors who enjoy exploring history in their own backyard. Maintained by the St. Croix County Historical Society, this famous Hudson home is a museum featuring Victorian era furnishings and exhibits many aspects of 19th-century culture.

The house belonged to Judge John Moffat and his wife, Nancy, who moved to Wisconsin in 1854 from New York, and represents a classic "eight-sided" American home that was popular during the mid-19th century.

"Such a house was considered conducive to healthy living as light and air could enter from eight directions," according to the St. Croix County Historical Society.

The house also boasts a garden house and carriage house as well as beautifully maintained gardens.

Tours of the house are open five days a week during spring and summer and on weekends during the fall and winter.

There are many beautifully restored Hudson historic homes for sale nearby the Octagon House and around the Sixth Street Historic District.
